Elijah Tice, Spring 2009

I can quite honestly say that my Institute semester was the best and most challenging semester I’ve ever had. Academically, I was pushed much harder than I’ve ever been pushed, and yet I was far less stressed and worried. Personally, I can look at who I was when I arrived and at who I am now and see the changes God has manifested in my life—growing my faith, revealing lies that I had believed, and teaching me to trust His guidance, even when the road doesn’t seem clear at all.

The school I came from is very secular, very liberal, and very draining for a Christian. After 4 ½ years there, I knew I needed to get away, to find some place where I could re-charge and re-train for the life God has planned for me. I needed a place where I didn’t have to be constantly on my guard against everything I was taught, against the very secular—even hopeless—mindset that pervades my campus. I found that place at the Institute. Attending was a leap of faith, but one of the life-lessons I learned in class was that “When God tells you to jump, He’s either going to provide a landing … or teach you to fly.”
